Zero series
Where it started: the first mugs with a carved texture.
The story
The Zero series is the first experiment with texture in the wall. Martijn threw the mugs on the wheel. When the clay was leather-hard, he carved ridges into it by hand, without a mould or stamp, so the spacing and depth differ from ridge to ridge and from mug to mug.
The glaze pools in the grooves and runs thinner over the edges. That way the texture comes back in the colour, in light and dark. This zero series later grew into larger carving work, such as the Circuit board series.
