Care
Every piece is made and glazed by hand; small differences in colour and shape are part of it. Wash with a soft sponge and avoid abrasive cleaners. Don't take the piece from very cold to very hot in one go.

About this piece
Some shapes stay in your head. For a long time Marjolein wanted to throw a vase with a long, narrow neck, which she calls a spout. Her inspiration was the Spanish ceramicist, whose work centres on simple forms and long lines.
Throwing a spout is harder than it looks. First you throw a round body. Then you keep pulling the clay at the top further inwards and upwards, until only a narrow neck with a small mouth is left. Too fast or too thin, and the neck collapses. After a number of attempts, it has now worked.
The result is a vase with a calm shape: a heavy, round body that flows into a slender spout. The vase stands firmly and yet has something light about it. It looks lovely with a single dried flower or branch, or simply empty as an object.
Right now the vase has been thrown and is ready to be trimmed. Then come drying, the bisque firing and glazing.
